Andrea Davis Pinkney wins ALA, ALSC Honors

Andrea Davis Pinkney, author of “Hand in Hand: Ten Black Men Who Changed America,” is the winner of the 2013 Coretta Scott King Book Awards author award. The awards honor African American authors and illustrators of outstanding books for children and young adults.

Pinkney, also was selected to deliver the 2014 May Hill Arbuthnot Honor Lecture.

The awards were announced during the American Library Association (ALA) Youth Media Awards on Jan. 28, 2013 in Seattle.
